What is PTE?
PTE stands for Pearson test of English and was developed by Pearson, a leading international publishing house, in the year 2010. The exam is radically different from all other language proficiency tests such that it is entirely computer-based including the scoring which is done through sophisticated AI. Candidates must attempt the entire test through the medium of a computer.
Why should I choose PTE?
Well, many things make PTE a great choice for students and professionals wishing to go abroad. First of all, since the entire scoring system is AI-based, the scores obtained are fair and objective rather than subjective. This means that candidates can be certain that there is no biased scoring. Secondly, the results of the test are declared much quicker as compared to more traditional tests, results are usually declared in less than 5 working days.
Is PTE easier than IELTS?
This is a frequently asked question among many candidates and the truth is there is no definitive answer. No test can be considered easier than the other; it’s like comparing apples and oranges. However, the PTE test is more intuitive like questions asked, and therefore, if the candidate already has a good command of the English language then he or she can expect to do well in the test.
Which countries accept PTE?
PTE is accepted in all major countries around the world including the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Along with many countries in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. A total of 3066 educational institutes accept PTE as a valid form of certification for English language proficiency.
Which skills are tested in PTE?
Same as any other ELP test, the four major skills of listening, reading, writing, and speaking are tested. Many questions in the test have integrated scoring, meaning that a single question type may test more than one skill simultaneously. The test is for 2 hours and 15 minutes, with the added benefit of having all four skills tested in one go.
